Emberfall

You play a lone king with almost nothing left: a horse, a purse, and the road.

Pay vagrants to turn them into archers and builders, raise walls, push back the forest. Every night, shadows pour out of the caves to steal your gold. If they find your purse empty, the crown is lost.

Deep in the forest sleeps an old brazier. Find it, rekindle it, feed it wood. One of these nights a colossus will come, and only the fire can stop it.

Four lands to cross — the forest, the autumn mountain, the snowlands and the ashlands — each with a companion to recruit: a bull that charges, a wolf whose breath freezes, a phoenix that sets the shadows ablaze.

Three difficulties: Easy, Normal, and Extreme (unlocked after the first land). The game saves automatically at every dawn.

• Shift: gallop
• ↓ or Space: drop a coin, hold to pay
• Q or F: companion
• ↑ or E: bark (dog)
• Esc: pause
• On mobile: on-screen buttons
